Safari Overview

Enjoy a 7 night adventure through the Northern Kafue starting off with 2 nights at Kafue River Lodge where you will get to choose from an array of both river and land based activities including game drives, boat cruises, walking, cycling and fishing. You will then venture north to Busanga Plains – which is undoubtedly the best place for wildlife viewing in the Kafue National Park. Here, you will stay 4 nights at the new Kasonso Busanga Camp – located right in the heart of the prime game viewing area.  Follwing your stay here, you will return to Kafue River Lodge for 1 night before returning back to Lusaka.

kasonso BUSHCAMP, BUSANGA PLAINS

Offering some of the best game viewing in the Kafue

The Busanga Plains is undoubtedly the best place for wildlife viewing in Kafue National Park and Kasonso Busanga Camp is located right in the heart of the prime game viewing area.  It is a simple bush camp with canvas walled tents (each with an ensuite bathroom), gauze windows and thatched roofs. Kasonso Camp gives you the opportunity to explore the Busanga Plains by morning, afternoon or all day game drives with your specialist Busanga guide. The Busanga Plains area is perfectly situated to see large numbers of red lechwe, but is also well known for the big lions, buffalo, elephant, wildebeest and relaxed roan antelope.

The lions of Busanga are a highlight of the region and the encounters of these cats moving around the floodplains is something to behold.

The water, fig tree islands and floodplains make for superb birding and the Busanga has an incredible birding list to experience.

The Busanga is also home to extensive lechwe populations and the topography of the land makes for a photographer’s dream!
